Season 4 of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call Of Duty: Warzone will officially kick off on June 3rd, which is next Wednesday. Activision confirmed the news in an exciting new trailer, which recaps the story so far of both Modern Warfare and its free-to-play battle royale spinoff.

The trailer, which you can see below, also seems to confirm an earlier tease that Captain Price will be joining the fight as a playable Operator. Price was a major player in the Modern Warfare campaign alongside Alex, who returned to the game as an Operator at the start of Season 3.

While mostly focused on establishing what's come before, the trailer also hints that something is very wrong in Verdansk - the location of Call Of Duty: Warzone. Certainly, players have had that feeling for a while now. The strange sound of howling wolves, mysterious bunkers, hidden nukes, and even cold war-era planes are all hiding in the battle royale. Something heavy is about to go down.

Many suspected that Season 4 would kick off with some kind of massive event that changed the face of the map (in the style of Fortnite). However, I'm now starting to think that Season 4 will instead be focused on a slower build up to an event, giving players the chance to solve a few mysteries while also laying down new ones.

We'll have to wait and see, but Infinity Ward certainly seems to be suggesting that Captain Price is on to something. His inclusion in Warzone implies that whatever is going on in Verdansk will soon come to light, at which point I imagine those nukes will finally come into play. I'm as excited as I am terrified.

With Season 4 right around the corner, Modern Warfare and Warzone players now have one last chance to reach the highest ranks of the Season 3 Battle Pass. The good news is that Infinity Ward has announced one last Double XP Weekend for players to be able to do that.

The fun starts on Friday, May 29th at around 6pm and ends the following Monday at the same time. This comes with the final update for Season 3, which saw a number of changes introduced to both Call Of Duty titles. Modern Warfare now has a few revamped playlists, including 24/7 moshpits for Shoot House and Shipment. Deathmatch Domination and Drop Zone also have their own dedicated playlists now, while Gun Game has a new collection of Gunfight maps.

Meanwhile, Warzone has removed the excellent Battle Royale Trios Classic, and added Plunder Quads. No doubt one of the other limited-time modes that recently leaked will be introduced next week as Season 4 roars into life.
