Halo is officially set to return in a big way this year, but I should warn you ahead of time that you should temper your expectations if you’re expecting the announcement of a brand new game.
It has almost been four whole years since we last got a new Halo game, following the release of Halo Infinite on Xbox consoles back in December 2021… and it’ll probably be a whole while longer, because there is no concrete info as to when a new entry in the franchise is coming.
Well, almost no information.
There is something Halo-related you can look forward to in 2025, the 2025 Halo World Championship where it's teased that fans should expect some kind of big announcement ... could that be our new game? Maybe, maybe not.

As revealed in a post on the r/halo subreddit, the Halo World Championship is set to return in October, and they’re throwing a whole boatload of cash at it this time around.
That’s because there’s going to be several Halo-related events and tournaments this year, including a Halo Infinite 4v4 tourney with a whopping $1,000,000 prize.
Yup, you read that correctly. A one-million-dollar prize pool is up for grabs, including a massive $400,000 prize for whoever comes in first place.
That’s not all though, as there are other tournaments you can enter and even some neat little competitions too, such as Halo Cosplay competition and a Halo “Makers” contest that will feature hand-crafted Halo gear, made by fans.

To grab tickets, you can head over to the official Halo Waypoint site and snag them ahead of time for as little as $60 (if you book them early).
Do be warned that the event is in Seattle though, so you’ll have to factor travel prices into things if you don’t live in America.
And hey, who knows? Maybe they’ll even announce a brand new Halo game at the event itself. I mean I can’t think of a better place to do it.
