This early Halo 7 tease is hyping up the game to be everything we've been dreaming of, but with fans being burned in recent years, we should proceed with some caution.
Next year is the 25th anniversary of the Halo series, originally developed by Bungie and launched alongside Microsoft’s first venture into the console market with the original Xbox.
There have been rumours circulating social media recently that 2001’s Halo: Combat Evolved will be getting a remake, rebuilt from the ground up using Unreal Engine 5, to celebrate said anniversary.
However, with all the talk of the original game getting a remake, let’s not forget about the prospect of Halo 7.

Befittingly, Halo Studios’ (formerly 343 Industries) first game was a remaster of Halo: Combat Evolved to mark its 10th anniversary. It was a fun remaster that remained faithful to its source material and allowed us to switch the graphics from new to old on the fly
When it comes to new entries such as Halo 4, Halo 5: Guardians and, more recently, Halo Infinite, the studio that has taken over the reins from Bungie hasn't quite hit the mark.
That being said, will Halo Studios finally hit a home run in 2026, or will it be its final swing at the last chance saloon?
Only time will tell, but a recent tease highlighted by Reddit user Halo-Codex appears to signal a bright future for this beloved franchise.

“The original Halo franchise was a graphics showcase. It was the best in the class. That's what Halo was when it was first released. That's what Halo needs to be again,” lead FX artist Daniel Henley recently said.
“Halo Infinite is the last remnant of how we made Halo games in the past. That was our recipe, and what we are doing right now is changing the recipe,” added VP and studio head Pierre Hintze.
The takeaway point here is that the developers at Halo Studios appear to be teasing that Halo 7 will be a fresh start and an improvement upon what's come before - which is exactly what the franchise needs at this point.
The words from Halo Studios do give me some hope, even if they were only talking about the graphical power of Unreal Engine 5, but I’ll be crossing my fingers with some scepticism nonetheless. After all, since 2012’s Halo 4, we’ve been burned more than we care to admit.

Hopefully, when the next game does arrive, it will be a return to form for Master Chief and friends. In the meantime, you can play the entire Halo series right now with an Xbox Game Pass subscription.
