Halo fans hope a big announcement could be made on 24 October 2025.
It’s fair to say that the Halo series hasn't been at its peak for some time. Well, ever since Halo Studios (formerly 343 Industries) took over the reins from Bungie and released Halo 4 in 2012 (not including the 2011 remaster of Halo: Combat Evolved).
Halo is one of the biggest and most popular video game franchises of all time. As a devoted fan since the release of Halo: Combat Evolved in 2001, in recent years especially, I’ve been hoping that each new game will do the series justice.
Don’t get me wrong, 2021’s Halo Infinite is decent, but at least for me, it never hit the high standards that I and many others have set for this legendary Xbox property.

Fans will be hoping that Halo Studios will hit a home run with its next attempt, especially as Microsoft has teased something big for 2026, which just so happens to be the 25th anniversary of Xbox and the Halo series.
As reported by Game Rant, on 24 October 2025, it’s the ‘Halo World Championship’ in Seattle, USA. Here, the best Halo teams in the world will compete to be crowned as the best intergalactic Spartans squad on the planet.
It’s been claimed that an attendee at the ‘Halo Championship Series Open’ in Dallas earlier this year spoke to a Halo Studios representative, who allegedly said that there’ll be a major announcement later in 2025.
This sounds very much like a “my friend has a dog, who knows of a cat’s mom’s uncle that works at Microsoft” kind of scenario, so please take this rumour with a pinch of salt.

That being said, if Microsoft is planning on making a huge announcement for the 25th anniversary of Xbox and Halo in 2026, then teasing that announcement at the ‘Halo World Championship’ would be the perfect place to do it.
As always, we’ll keep you posted when we learn more.
