Just when you thought that Skyrim couldn't get any better, along comes the version of our dreams.

There’s a good reason why, after nearly 15 years, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim remains so popular today, and that’s because it’s still a fantastic game. It’s why Bethesda has released it on every console generation since it originally arrived in 2011.

Another reason why this entry in The Elder Scrolls series is so active today is the support of its ever-vibrant modding community. Whether it’s new story content, areas, weapons, skins or bug fixes, modders have you covered.

The modding community is such a blessing that it’s our best hope to keep us busy until The Elder Scrolls VI finally releases, whenever that time might be.

When playing the likes of Skyrim on PC, as is the case with most games, the mods available are next level, especially when you have a beast of a gaming system.

One such mod, or more accurately, a series of mods, has been showcased on the YouTube channel nukt, and it’s called ‘Skyrim Ultima’, which sounds like an evolved version of a new Pokémon or something.

The mod set overhauls lighting, improves assets, and just generally makes Skyrim look like a new-gen game.

It’s worth noting that, as stated in the description of the video, the ‘Skyrim Ultima gameplay’ shown is considered to be outdated, but the modder has updated the mod list so that you can play the most up-to-date version.

What’s more, there are a series of more recent videos on the nukt YouTube channel that show how much this mod has evolved since this gameplay was first uploaded, and it’s fair to say that it’s come on leaps and bounds.

The recent gameplay on the channel doesn't even look like Skyrim, which is either a good or bad thing, depending on your perspective. Not only does it look lush, but the combat looks more free-flowing than any game in the series, and the foliage looks incredible.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. It’s also available at no extra cost with an Xbox Game Pass subscription.
