Bloodborne fans aren’t too happy with news of an upcoming project set in the same universe, for a whole bunch of different reasons.
Great news! We should be getting a new Bloodborne project at some point soon!
Bad news! It’s not a FromSoftware developed sequel, it’s actually a movie. Even worse news! Apparently it’s been delayed.
We’ve been hearing rumours about a Bloodborne movie since the start of 2024, but since then, there hasn’t really been any news on the project… until now.

That’s because, according to leaker DanielRPK, work on the adaptation has been stalled because they can’t find a director for it.
This update comes via a post on ScreenTime’s Twitter, and the comments in the thread are less than positive.
“They're releasing Bloodborne at 24 fps before 60 fps,” commented user @Majewra.
“It's going to be bad no matter what happens so just give the director spot to Uwe Boll so we can have something to laugh at,” replied user @Long_shankers.

This update follows on from the recent announcement of another FromSoftware title getting a film adaptation: Elden Ring.
As revealed last month on Bandai Namco’s official website, a live-action Elden Ring film is in the works and being directed by Alex Garland.
Perhaps the update regarding the Bloodborne movie was spurred by that announcement, as the success of an Elden Ring film would doubtlessly improve the chances of a Bloodborne film doing well at the box office.
Still, I can’t help but feel that the public’s sour reaction to a possible Bloodborne film is a little shortsighted.

We’ve been begging Sony and FromSoftware for a remaster or a sequel to Bloodborne for years, and while a film adaptation is certainly not what we all had in mind, its success would definitely reignite talks of a follow-up.
