Animal Crossing fans will want to check out this cosy game on Steam that you can download and play for free today.

It doesn't get much more chill than the Animal Crossing series on Nintendo. Being able to live on a virtual tropical island, crafting, building a home, interacting with its NPCs and sharing your island with friends is a wonderful thing.

If there was one major snag with Animal Crossing, it’s a Nintendo exclusive series. Sure, it’s great for Nintendo console owners, but perhaps not so much for those who aren't.

Thankfully, at least, digital platforms such as the Steam store on PC are not short of Animal Crossing-inspired offerings, such as this delightful indie game developed and published by LunaBeat, called Cozy Beach.

“Cozy Beach is a wholesome game set on a tropical beach where you can fish and explore, solo or with friends,” reads the description of the game on Steam. “Pick out your fave kitty, catch and collect fish, explore Paw Print Island, and hang out and chill!”

Cozy Beach has only been out for a few weeks, and already it’s proving to be a hit with some gamers.

“It’s a very cute game,” wrote Mariposa757. “I can't wait for its full release.”

“It’s cute, fun to play and very chill,” said Steam user Love. “I will be keeping my eye on it.”

Judging by other Steam reviews, the game is a bit bare of features and reportedly has some bugs. However, it’s an indie game that is very early in its life cycle, so hopefully, future patches might see the game improve by the time it's ready for the full launch.

Cozy Beach does not have a full release date yet, but it is expected to launch sometime in 2026. In the meantime, be sure to add it to your Steam wishlist.

Hopefully, if Cozy Beach proves to be a success, it will launch on PlayStation and Xbox, because it would be nice for non-Nintendo gamers to have another Animal Crossing alternative.
