This Steam game that you can try now for free is most certainly one for fans of the beloved Nintendo series, Animal Crossing.

When it comes to cosy games, it doesn't get much more cosy than the Animal Crossing series, and that’s pretty much been the case since it first arrived on the Nintendo GameCube all the way back in 2001.

For many, the best in the series might be 2020’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Nintendo Switch, which has been credited by many for helping them get through the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic, thanks to interacting with other players online by visiting their digitised tropical island.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons may have also been the entry point for fans across the world. I know it was the first and only game in the series that I played. It wasn't my cup of tea, but I can understand why it’s so beloved, despite that manipulative loan shark in disguise, otherwise known as Tom Nook.

Honestly, if you even meet a raccoon dog-type-thing, and he offers to lend you money to build a home and business on a tropical island, you might want to think twice before getting indebted to him. Anyway, I’ll get back on track.

Animal Crossing fans, check this out

So, what is the game that can be considered one for Animal Crossing fans, I hear you ask? The game in question is called Neko Michi, developed and published by Eternal Dream/Eggtato.

“Build and restore your own street in this cosy management game set in Meiji-era Japan. Design and customise buildings, manage charming cat-run shops, and create harmony between traditional and modern feline villagers to bring your street to life,” reads the synopsis of Neko Michi on Steam.

“Progress through each chapter to unlock charming new buildings inspired by both traditional and modern Meiji-era architecture. Personalise your buildings by changing their colours, shapes, and designs to create a street that reflects your unique style.

“Balance material costs, prices, and customer needs to keep your cat-run shops thriving and profitable. Build a peaceful community by maintaining harmony between traditional and modern cat villagers, ensuring everyone feels at home.”

At the time of writing, Neko Michi does not have a release date, other than it’s “coming soon”. However, you can download and play its free demo from Steam right now.

Hopefully, considering that Neko Michi does have a playable demo, its launch might not be too far away. In the meantime, be sure to also add it to your Steam wishlist to be notified of its launch.
