Rumoured Warner Bros Smash-Like Game Will Feature Shaggy, Gandalf, And Fred Flinstone

Rumoured Warner Bros Smash-Like Game Will Feature Shaggy, Gandalf, And Fred Flinstone

Warner Bros may have taken the Shaggy Mortal Kombat memes too literally.

Sometimes the memes of our dreams become reality it seems. A new rumour suggests that following the memes about Shaggy (from Scooby-Doo) joining the Mortal Kombat franchise, Warner Bros is taking the opportunity to explore a game combining its biggest characters into one Smash-like title. And yeah, we can barely believe it either.

As PC Gamer reports, the Gaming Leaks and Rumours subreddit has been discussing a post that claims NetherRealm Studios is making a fighting game including the cast of many Warner Bros. properties. Although Shaggy wasn’t really going to come to Mortal Kombat, apparently the memes the internet made about Shaggy allowed Warner Bros. to toss some ideas about. And eventually it seems it signed off on a Smash-like game.

The post on Reddit by Hugeleakeractually, says that the cast of the game will include: Shaggy from Scooby-Doo, Gandalf, (The Lord of the Rings), Tom & Jerry, Batman, Fred Flinstone, Mad Max, Johnny Bravo and potentially Harry Potter and Ron, although the leaker says the studio may have “stopped development on them”.

And the evidence they share? Well, there is a trademarked name which the leaker claims to be connected to the project. According to the leaker, Multiverse is the name of the game, but they do also point to Space-Jam 2 as a sign of how keen Warner Bros is to fold in its characters into larger collaboration projects.

Surprisingly, well-known industry insider Jeff Grubb says that this game is real, though some details aren’t. The insider says that: “This WB platform fighter is real, but it is not a Netherrealm game. Come on." So who is developing it then? And more importantly, when do I get to kick ass as Gandalf?

In any case, Smash seems to be inspiring more and more platform fighting games. We’ve of course seen the success of Nickelodeon All-Stars Brawl so why wouldn’t more companies be inspired to roll their characters into more fighting games in the future? Can you imagine an Overwatch brawl game? Or perhaps even a Universal Studios fighting title with characters from Fast and Furious, Jurassic Park, and Despicable Me all in the mix. It would be delicious chaos.
