Pokémon: Grand Colosseum is everything we ever wanted inspired by the classic game of 2003.
There are tons of Pokémon games, an ungodly amount, in fact. Pretty much on a yearly basis since its inception on the Nintendo Game Boy in 1996, we’ve often had two simultaneous releases.
So, it’s absolutely understandable that some Pokémon games may have been lost amongst the shuffle, especially when it comes to its many spin-off titles.

One spin-off title that has garnered a cult-like status is Pokémon Colosseum that was first released in Japan in 2003 before arriving in the west the following year.
Pokémon Colosseum is the spiritual successor to the beloved N64 title, Pokémon Stadium. Oh, and by the way, the GameCube title is coming soon to Nintendo Switch 2.
In Pokémon Colosseum, you can battle against friends or the CPU to become the best trainer, like no one ever was. It also had some fun party games and overall, it was a very delightful game.
However, improving on what was already a winning formula, thanks to PC emulation, Pokémon: Grand Colosseum is everything we ever wanted and then some.
Pokémon: Grand Colosseum, a fan-made mod of the GameCube game not only introduces a new challenging difficulty but also 65 new moves, a new Fairy-type, new shadow encounters, Alolan Ninetales and Marowak, a Paldean Tauros and much more.
Instructions on how to play the mod can be found in the description of the Pokémon: Grand Colosseum trailer above. This mod has been active for well over a year, so hopefully, it’s safe from Nintendo’s cease and desist takedowns.
Advert
As for the official game, Pokémon Colosseum does not have a release date for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. Fingers crossed, it will arrive at some point this year.
We’ll keep you posted when that release date eventually drops.
