Last week Cory in the House for the Nintendo DS creeped its way into the top three best video games of all-time on Metacritic, based on user-reviews of course, and it got me thinking about another viral game that deserves some more time in the spotlight. Yes, I'm bringing it back, and another underrated gem I think should get the same treatment.
If you missed it, this week Cory in the House, the obscure Disney tie-in title, got review... Rocketed? Why? Memes.
Throw your mind back to 2025. One of my favourite gaming moments was when we went all in on Piglet’s Big Game for being one of the strangest games ever released for the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube.
As a tie-in for The Piglet Movie it followed Piglet on an adventure to rescue his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood, and while it was definitely made for kids it garnered attention for being more akin to Silent Hill.

You can find the gameplay online and it’s not modded or exaggerated. Piglet wanders through nightmarish scenarios and liminal spaces, fighting off various threats along the way.
It draws upon Piglet’s key character trait of being a bit of a coward, something that’s integral to the plot of The Piglet Movie as he ultimately overcomes his fears to help his friends. Sorry, spoiler alert I guess.
Through the fisheye lens of someone’s TikTok or Instagram though you could easily assume Disney once partnered with Capcom or Konami to produce the scariest kid’s game you’ve ever seen.

After going viral online, physical copies of the game skyrocketed in price, and while I was eager to add a copy to my collection at the time I wasn’t down to pay the £100-200 some sellers were asking for.

These are the kind of bizarre hidden gems I love to encounter or hear about. Writing this I was reminded of another obscure title that I played as a kid that had a similar vibe to Piglet’s Big Game.
My memory is a bit hazy but I’m pretty sure it was Disney's Magical Mirror Starring Mickey Mouse, which funnily enough was actually developed by Capcom.
I remember it feeling oddly unsettling and I didn’t get far into the game before deciding it wasn’t for me, though I might have to revisit it now.
I really do love it when lesser-known games like this suddenly fall into the limelight.
I’m incredibly passionate about video game preservation and there are so many games, especially from the PlayStation 2 era, that have either fallen into obscurity or been forgotten entirely.
Cory in the House reaching the top of Metacritic has given me a new quest. To pinpoint some of the weird and wonderful games we played in our childhood and shine a light on them.
