New Silent Hill Release Teased For Later This Year

A "big surprise" coming in 2026.

Some kind of new Silent Hill release has been teased for later this year, and we’re not quite sure what to make of it right now.

While we wait for news regarding Silent Hill: Townfall and Bloober Team’s remake of the first game, it’s a good time to go back and enjoy the older games in the series.

Where All Begins, the team behind the excellent Enhanced Edition mod for the original Silent Hill 2 on PC, has teased a “big surprise” for later in the year.

“Happy New Year, everyone! It's been a while, hasn't it?” the developer writes in a new post.

“We wanted to let you know we're still around and have some big surprises anticipated to announce later on in 2026. The big surprises are a way's out so, in the meantime, here are some smaller, unrelated things to tease.”

The post includes four images of what appear to be Silent Hill 2 assets as wire-frame models that are being worked on by the development team, potentially for a future update to the Enhanced Edition.

It’s difficult to make out what exactly they are, but the second image seems to feature Maria’s hair now seemingly obeying the laws of gravity.

Is Silent Hill 3 Getting A Remaster?

However, Where All Begins also says that these images are “unrelated” to the big surprises teased, so it begs the question of what could be coming up.

Some fans believe that this could be an enhanced edition for Silent Hill 3, which could remaster the game so it runs well on modern PCs, has better controller support, and looks similar to the PS2 version.

Others also believe that the modding team is working with Konami to re-release the original Team Silent games via GOG’s Preservation Program, an initiative by the DRM-free platform to release more games that can no longer be bought on modern platforms.

KONAMI

The program has already resulted in the original three Resident Evil games being available for download on modern PCs, as well as Dino Crisis and Breath of Fire IV.

At the moment, the only Team Silent game available on GOG is Silent Hill 4: The Room, so it’s missing the first three.

Either way, whatever Where All Begins seems to be teasing, it should hopefully be worth the wait. The original Silent Hill games are some of the best horror games of all time, and if this helps more people to play them on modern platforms, it’ll be worth the effort.
