Silent Hill F Gets Free DLC Ahead Of Townfall's Release

As the wait for Silent Hill: Townfall sets in, Konami has now released a free DLC for Silent Hill f to redeem.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Silent Hill f would be getting a crossover DLC with Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake, which came out in March.
Silent Hill f players can now download the Crimson Butterfly Costume, which allows them to dress Hinako in a similar outfit to the one Mio wears in Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly.
You can grab the DLC from Steam, at which point it’ll be installed with your copy of Silent Hill f. To use the new costume in-game, find a Hokora Shrine and select Change Costume from the menu.

The costume is available to all players who own the standard version of Silent Hill f, so you don’t need to own the digital deluxe version for the additional content.
The Crimson Butterfly outfit is significant as it’s the first costume added to Silent Hill f which isn’t based on the Sailor School Uniform.
It features muted colours with a mix of reds, blacks, and whites. A bright red ribbon is found on the front, which resembles crimson butterflies to complete the costume.
The collaboration between Silent Hill f and Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake sees both games get free DLC costumes based on the other game’s characters, with Fatal Frame II’s DLC coming first at the end of March.
That DLC introduced the Navy Sailor School Uniform as an unlockable costume for Mio to wear, while her sister Mayu is able to equip the Fox Mask accessory.

The collaboration between both games came about due to the similarities in themes and story between both games. As both are J-horrors set in the past (1980s for Fatal Frame II, 1960s in the case of Silent Hill f), there are plenty of opportunities for the games to collide in fun ways like this.
We liked both games when we wrote about them previously. In our Silent Hill f review from last year, our own Sam Cawley said that “Overall I think Silent Hill f is remarkable. As the first original Silent Hill game since Silent Hill: Downpour in 2012, and combined with Silent Hill 2 (2024) it’s safe to say the franchise is back, and in peak condition no less.”
Meanwhile, in my preview of Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake from earlier this year, I said that “I’m really loving the spooky atmosphere and clever connection with Japan’s folkloric horror roots.”
However, a complaint that me and Sam shared about both games had to do with the combat, in which we felt both games featured clunky and outdated design.
The next Silent Hill game players will able to get their hands on is Silent Hill: Townfall, which takes the series to Scotland in the 1990s.
