PlayStation has spruced up what was an otherwise uneventful Wednesday by revealing Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition, a new version of the hit first-party game that's set to launch later this year in celebration of the game's first anniversary.
To be precise, Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition launches on October 1 and introduces new story DLC and game mode, as well as new trophies, armours, weapons, and more.
The story DLC is titled Echoes of Sekigahara - and we're certainly hoping it's an expansive and brilliant as Ghost of Tsushima's Iki Island.

According to the PlayStation Blog, the DLC features both flashbacks to Atsu's time on the mainland as well as present day content.
"You’ll meet Nagato, a figure from Atsu’s past who has arrived in Ezo," says the post. "In the present, you’ll explore a previously unseen valley once inhabited by The Snake and his gang of loyal followers, the Vipers. In the past, you’ll experience Atsu’s time in the Battle of Sekigahara and a key moment in her life before she returned home for her quest for vengeance. You’ll meet new enemies and find new heavy weapons, new armour sets, new dyes, and more." It sounds very promising.
As for the new game mode, it's a survival based one called Most Wanted and essentially functions like a roguelike. We should've seen this coming after The Last of Us Part II added No Return and God of War Ragnarök added Valhalla. Roguelike modes seem to be the new norm.
In Most Wanted, players will accept bounties as they embark on runs, taking down enemies, earning perks, and unlocking additonal characters. Sucker Punch notes that it'll have more the show "soon" but for now, it outlined a few of the types of characters you can play as.
Atsu is highlighted as being a master of the dual katana, while players will want to pick Oyuki for kusarigama-centric gameplay or Nagato if they wish to yield a yari.

Those who purchase Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition by September 30 will unlock the Sakai Armour set on October 1 for Atsu to wear which is a nod to Ghost of Tsushima's Jin. That applies to pre-ordering the upgrade too.
Finally, there's a another new mode on the way on October 1 that all players well benefit from. You just need to own the base game. Titled Beauty of Yōtei, is "allows for a screensaver-like view of the environments of Ezo to keep on and relax at home (and take stunning new Photo Mode captures)".

That's a lot to look forward to. Bring on October.
