Red Dead Redemption 2 roast new trailer for surprise release

Rockstar does have two online games after all!

Red Dead Redemption 2 fans roast the comments section of a new trailer for a surprise new update that was released last week.

You might not always know it, but Rockstar Games has another popular series that’s not Grand Theft Auto. Yes, it really does. And that series is Red Dead Redemption.

Of course, I am being sarcastic, but that doesn't detract from the fact that since Red Dead Online was released in 2019, bundled with Red Dead Redemption 2, it feels like the multiplayer western has been kicked to the curb by Rockstar Games.

In 2022, Rockstar Games pretty much confirmed that it was done with Red Dead Online, meaning that it will not get expansion-sized content updates like we see with GTA Online, but instead, will just get monthly events that basically reward us with DLC, XP and currency for completing missions.

We’re not naive, we all know that even if all the money and resources were pumped into Red Dead Online, there’s a high probability that it would never be as successful as the anomaly that is GTA Online. But at the very least, Rockstar Games could have given it a fighting chance.

So, imagine the surprise to fans when Rockstar Games recently dropped a huge content update for Red Dead Online, inspired by the popular 2010 expansion for the Red Dead Redemption, namely, Undead Nightmare.

While the arrival of the update in question, ‘Strange Tales of the West’, is great news, fans have treated the announcement with a degree of sarcasm, given the years of Red Dead Online neglect.

“The one dev has been grinding on this for seven years,” joked BensonDoverson94 in the comments section on YouTube.

“They remembered that they have two online games,” said VeEeARE.

“The janitor remembered the password,” claimed wjaz7219.

“Rockstar pulling up with a Red Dead Online update in 2025 is like finding an old friend you thought moved away,” exclaimed another user in the comments.

“This is a moment in history. Rockstar remembered the existence of Red Dead Online,” declared morganrossiter3541.

Hopefully, this is a positive sign of things to come for Red Dead Online, but I wouldn't hold my breath, just in case.
