It would seem that a new port of Red Dead Redemption for current-generation consoles has just leaked online, momentarily giving everyone hope that a remastered version of Red Dead Redemption II could finally be on its way.
For the past couple of years, there have been constant whispers of a potential current-gen remaster of Rockstar Games’ 2018 classic Red Dead Redemption II.
For the time being, nothing has been outright confirmed by Rockstar Games, but it's clear that the demand for a PlayStation 5/Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X port of the game is at an all-time high.
Well, the internet thought their wish had finally been granted earlier today. That’s because, as spotted by one user over on the r/GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, a brand new listing for Red Dead Redemption just went live over on the ESRB website.

To clarify, before you get too ahead of yourselves, the listing in question is for the original Red Dead Redemption, not Red Dead Redemption II.
It is still pretty juicy though, because the ESRB site now states that the original game will be coming to PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and both Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X.

As far as the PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 ports are concerned, you can already play the original Red Dead Redemption on both of those systems (by using the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch ports of the game).

However, the fact that the new listing doesn’t include the PS4 and Nintendo Switch versions implies that this version of the game will be exclusive to current-gen hardware.
At minimum, this probably means that the improvements Rockstar Games made to the game in the PC release will make their way into the new current-gen version, like the ultrawide monitor support, the native 4K resolution, shadow quality settings, and the HDR lighting support.
Potentially, however, this could imply that a fully remastered version of the game is on its way. Personally, I think that’s pretty unlikely, considering that a proper remaster was reportedly shelved following Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition’s less-than-stellar reception, but it is possible.
For now, there’s been no official word from Rockstar Games regarding the leaked ESRB rating, so we’ll have to wait for a proper announcement to find out more details.

Hopefully, a Red Dead Redemption II remaster follows said announcement, too, considering how much longer we have to wait for Grand Theft Auto VI…
