MCU fans unite over stealing Cyclops actor from DCU

I can see the vision

If you think about it, David Corenswet is currently to the DCU what Robert Downey Jr. once was for the MCU.

With the DCU undergoing a major reset, he’s the face on which its future will be built.

And it’s looking as if that future will be bright.

Superman has secured a very respectable Rotten Tomatoes score of 86%, correct as of time of writing; it’s likely to fluctuate as more reviews continue to flood in.

That’s incredible, especially for a superhero film which can so often be seen as popcorn blockbuster fodder.

As such, I’m imagining James Gunn and Peter Safran are already dreaming up a sequel with Corenswet likely to be a mainstay in the DCU for many years to come.

And yet, Marvel fans are hoping MCU head honcho Kevin Feige nabs the DCU star for a fan-favourite X-Men role.

“Oh Kevin Feige, it’s time to open up that wallet and start playing dirty again,” wrote X/Twitter user bulepidr in a now viral tweet.

Attached were two images: one of Corenswet and one of Cyclops.

Of course, it feels pretty obvious to say that it’s highly unlikely that Corenswet would even consider taking on the role of Cyclops.

As I said, he’s likely going to be busy in the DCU for years to come and when he does find himself with some time away from it, I’m imagining he’s going to be getting plenty of incredible film offers outside of the superhero genre.

That being said, I do agree; on paper, he’d make an excellent Cyclops, and the character will surely be a key part of the MCU’s next saga which is rumoured to be mutant-centric.

“I would love this,” replied get_snart. “Part of the reason Cyclops is my favourite Marvel character is already that he’s arguably a Superman parallel.”

“GAGGED,” exclaimed IcyyBoiB.

“Wait … ok actually yeah 100% omg,” added _tobimp3.

We do have James Marsden reprising his role as Cyclops in Avengers: Doomsday, although I’m still of the belief that the film will feature Doom killing all of the Fox versions of the X-Men, allowing the MCU to put its own stamp on things.
