A long-time MCU cast member is now slated to appear in The Batman Part II, fuelling speculation about who they could be playing.
With how massive the Marvel Cinematic Universe is now, almost 20 years after its initial debut, it’s hard to find an actor who hasn’t appeared in that franchise at least once.
That can make casting for new and upcoming superhero projects, whether that be Marvel or DC, quite tricky when you want to avoid typecasting an actor.
Regardless, it’s now being reported that Matt Reeves’ The Batman: Part II will see a familiar Marvel face join the main cast.
The Batman: Part II Will Feature Familiar Marvel Faces
Deadline reports that Marvel’s Sebastian Stan is in talks to appear in the upcoming sequel to The Batman, playing an unspecified role opposite Robert Pattinson.

The sequel sees Matt Reeves return to the director’s chair, along with Robert Pattinson reprising his role as Bruce Wayne / The Batman, and Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell also returning in their own respective roles.
It’s also been reported that Marvel's Black Widow herself, Scarlett Johansson, will also appear in the film, her role also undisclosed at this time.

Finally, Variety claims that Barry Keoghan’s Joker will also appear, reprising his role from a small cameo he made at the end of the first film. However, it’s unknown if this will be another small part or if he’ll have a more substantial role.
DC Studios has not commented on the casting, nor has any indication been made towards new characters appearing in the film who Stan and Johansson could be playing.
While The Batman: Part II is expected to begin filming this spring for a 1 October 2027 release, Stan is not done with Marvel yet. The Bucky Barnes actor reprised his role in last year’s Thunderbolts* and is slated to star in Avengers: Doomsday in December, and possibly more films beyond that.
Johansson, on the other hand, starred in last year’s Jurassic World: Rebirth and The Phoenician Scheme, as well as making her directorial debut with Eleanor the Great.
The Batman, released in 2022, was Warner Bros. first big theatrical blockbuster following the Covid-19 lockdowns after employing a day-and-date release strategy for HBO Max. It grossed $772.3 million on a budget of around $200 million, and was seen as a great success due to the market conditions of the time.
