DCU fans aren’t too happy with the latest cameo in Season 2 of Peacemaker, because they think it means that Robert Pattinson’s chances of reprising his role as Batman in James Gunn’s universe are now slim-to-none.

Alright, here’s your big spoiler warning up top: this article will contain spoilers for the new season of the DCU show Peacemaker, the first episode of which aired on August 21.

Also, further spoiler warning: no, we’re not on about that retconned scene with Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

With that out of the way, the first episode of Season 2 of Peacemaker, titled The Ties That Grind, featured a rather unexpected cameo… one of Batman’s much, much lesser known (and much, much goofier) villains.

For a brief few seconds, the villain White Rabbit, wearing her comic accurate suit, pops up during a scene where Peacemaker visits the Justice Gang.

So, why does the inclusion of a Batman villain mean that Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne won’t appear in James Gunn’s DCU?

As stated in an article by Dexerto’s Cameron Frew, fans of The Batman think that White Bunny’s cameo means that the Batman that will be featured in the DCU will be much sillier, and less grounded– which doesn’t really lend itself well to the grounded, more serious universe that Matt Reeves has created in his 2022 film.

Taking one look at the comments over on @BatSource1’s Twitter post about White Bunny’s cameo shows that fans think that this is the final nail in the coffin for the potential The Batman/Superman DCU merger (even though James Gunn has stated on several occasions that it’s not something they’re pursuing).

Personally, I don’t think this is as big a deal as people are making it out to be. I get that the universe in The Batman was a bit more realistic than the one portrayed in 2025’s Superman, but that doesn’t mean that the sillier side of Gotham doesn’t exist– merely that it wasn’t featured in the 2022 film.

Of course, that just might be copium on my part.
