Following Gal Gadot’s exit from any future DC properties, it would appear that James Gunn’s DCU is officially moving forward with a new Wonder Woman film much quicker than anticipated.
Whether or not Gal Gadot would return as Wonder Woman in the DCU has been up in the air for a while now.
While it might seem obvious that she wouldn’t, considering Zack Snyder’s DC films and James Gunn’s new universe are separate, there has been some conflicting information.
Gal Gadot herself has been sort of non-committal about her return, stating that we’ll “have to wait and see” whether she returns.

Plus, fans have been a little confused about how Snyder’s DC films tie into Gunn’s universe, considering certain actors, like John Cena, seem to be reprising their roles in the DCU.
Well, it seems Warner Bros and Gunn are officially moving forward with a new Wonder Woman film… one that Gadot won’t be starring in.
As covered by The Direct's Savannah Sanders, DC seems to be in the midst of a rebranding effort, and has altered the official logos on the official social accounts for a number of their most famous superheroes, including Batman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman.
The branding change also followed several reports that James Gunn was fast-tracking a new Wonder Woman film, leading many to believe that the logo shift was related to the upcoming movie.

However, Gunn debunked this rumour during a recent interview with Rolling Stone.
“I don’t know what they mean by fast-tracking”, Gunn revealed.
“I’ve always had Wonder Woman as a priority… we really need Wonder Woman and we really need Batman, because they’re so important to us. And so it’s become a little bit more like going to everybody at DC and being like, we need to figure this out. We have good writers on Wonder Woman and we just have to make sure it’s working and they have to not be somebody who’s gonna take two years to write a script.”
Not long after, Gunn also revealed that the upcoming Wonder Woman film is being written by Ana Nogueira, who also wrote the screenplay for next year’s Supergirl film.

All in all, while this may mean that a new Wonder Woman actor has not been cast, it does confirm that Gadot will not be returning to the role.
For the best, personally. Of course, the Snyder bros might campaign for her return, much in the same way they’ve been doing for Henry Cavill… but it would need to be a big enough campaign to quell the denial (sorry).
