After comments from James Gunn, noting he’d love to see Henry Cavill in the DCU, speculation is running rampant on which character Cavill would play.
The British actor has already worn the cape of Superman, but not David Corenswet is the DCU poster boy, Cavill would have to play another hero, or possibly villain.
There are hundreds of options, given how big the roster is within DC Comics, but with star power that bright, it’s likely fans and creatives would want the actor to take a large role.
Over on Reddit, there’s plenty of discussion about this, with some pointing out that he would make a great Batman and Bruce Wayne.

James Gunn has said the two of them are on good terms, and he is open to collaboration with Cavill in the future, so who do fans want him to play?
“I know everyone wants him as Batman, but man he would be an awesome Captain Atom,” said IrishPanda378.
Of course, comic book fans know that the multiverse is a thing, and it’s something DC plays with just as often as Marvel, so many Redditors think a variant Superman is on the cards.
“Superman of Earth 2 in a crisis movie. That's the best and most logical pick, IMO,” noted Jerry_0boy.
Though another Redditor thinks Cavill could be in a Superman film, just not wearing the cape, as they comment, “I have an idea: as General Zod.”
In reply to this, Due-Interview-554 says, “Knowing Gunn, he would absolutely cast him in a role that is extremely different from Superman, which I love.”
That would be a savvy bit of casting, and would be a nice nod to the past DC projects, but another user pulls some deeper cuts for potential roles, saying, “Metallo, Ares, and Atrocitus leader of the red lanterns.”
All of these are solid picks, and should Cavill step back into the world of DC Comics, it will likely be a more obscure role.
