Some DC Comics fans are concerned over the possible casting choices being made by James Gunn as we look ahead at the inevitable casting of Batman.

One Batman fan took to Reddit to express their ‘frustrations’ over Gunn’s choices, so far, believing that the director will make the wrong choice when it comes to choosing an actor to play The Dark Knight.

Who knows who will play Batman in the DCU, it won't be The Batman's Robert Pattinson

In the Reddit thread, the user said, “I'm starting to lose a bit of faith in James Gunn's casting choices.”

They gave their reasons as the rumour of “Kumail Nanjiani being Booster Gold” and the confirmation of “Kyle Chandler, a 60 year old, officially playing Hal Jordan.”

This leads them to believe that “There's a chance DCU Batman's casting is bs.”

Thankfully, the community rallied and called out the poster citing several reasons as to why these aren’t bad choices, and the internet gets too heated when it comes to casting.

“You got to get over movies not casting actors who look exactly like their comic book counterparts. If they did that, we would have missed out on many great performances,” said one DC fan.

Another Redditor commented, “It’s not often where you’ll get lucky and find an actor that is both a good actor and looks like a fictional character. You can’t always have an RDJ Ironman or a Hugh Jackman Wolverine.”

The rumour is that we’ll get a much older Batman after years of younger actors portraying the hero, and many of the most acclaimed stories being about an ageing Bruce Wayne.

There has been no confirmation on who will step into the role.

One Batman fan says, “I'll probably wait until after I see a performance before judging the casting.”

Similar comments were made about the casting for Superman, though early opinions seem to love the choice there.

We’ll be better able to gauge the hype, if and when it’s finally announced.
