Wonder Woman DCU 'Recast Under Way', Gal Gadot's Tenure Ends

She had a good run

Wonder Woman is being recast for the DCU as Gal Gadot’s tenure comes to an end.

I know she’s not everyone’s cup of tea, and despite having initial reservations when she was first announced to be the new Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot became a favourite character of mine in Zack Snyder’s DCEU movies, alongside Henry Cavill’s Superman.

Sure, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League and Wonder Woman weren't great movies, but I at least felt that Gal Gadot shone with her performances. That being said, the less said about Wonder Woman 1984, the better.

Now, James Gunn and Peter Safran are in charge of the newly revised DCU, and this year, we were treated to the fantastic Superman, which controversially recast David Corenswet as the new Man of Steel. Again, despite initial reservations, Corenswet soon won me over with his performance.

David Corenswet knocked it out of the park

David Corenswet looks to begin a new trend of DCU recasts because, as reported by Comicbook.com, Wonder Woman looks to be the next character to have a new face.

It’s reported by Daniel Richtman, courtesy of sources, that an actress in her 20s is being eyed for the Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow, set to arrive in cinemas in 2027.

What’s more, Nexus Point News elaborates further that this actress, in her 20s, is to play a “warrior” with a “strong physique”.

Who will be the new Wonder Woman?

Of course, the above description could be for a ton of female characters from the world of DC, but I’d say that there’s a very good chance it could be for the new Wonder Woman.

If true, the next question is, who will play the Amazonian goddess, otherwise known as Princess Diana of Themyscira?

I think casting a new and really good Wonder Woman will be easier said than done, especially if those at DCU are 100% adamant on casting someone in their 20s, even more so in their early 20s.

Granted, the following names I’ll mention are either 29 to 35 years old, but I’d love to see the likes of Ana de Armas (Ballerina), Melissa Barrera (Scream), Charlee Fraser (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga), Grace Caroline Currey (Shazam!) and Adria Arjona (Andor) all be in with a shout.

Of course, we should take all unconfirmed rumours with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise, and once we learn more about this developing story, we’ll update you.

At the time of writing, Man of Tomorrow is set to arrive in cinemas on 9 July 2027.
