I don’t envy James Gunn and his bevy of talent over at DC Studios; the expectation among fans must be putting mountains of pressure on the team.
They inherited a messy history that treated most of the DC heroes and villains poorly, and long-time fans of the comics and icons want an MCU level of quality.
I’d argue that Gunn and the team got it right casting David Corenswet as Superman, and now that the studio has greenlit a Wonder Woman film, the pressure mounts to find the perfect Diana.
Fans already think they’ve found the best actress for the role, and astonishingly, James Gunn agrees, saying “she’d be a great Wonder Woman”.

That doesn’t mean she’ll eventually end up playing the hero, but Adria Arjona is the clear favourite of many.
Gunn has already worked with Arjona on previous projects, and fans soon thought she’d been confirmed for the role after noticing the director follows the actress on Instagram.
He says he’s been following her for years and that fans just followed the dots how they wanted, but that doesn’t stop Arjona becoming a possibility.
“Anybody who argues against this, leave the planet please,” commented one fan over on Twitter.

“She’s perfect,” said another.
She definitely has the look, and she’s able to work with action scenes, as well as deliver funny or emotional lines with great acting skills.
It would be great to see her snag the role, but you have to wonder if Gunn and his team will now avoid her simply because so many fans are eager to see her in the role.
Perhaps they’ll go for a relatively unknown actress, either way, the script is being worked on right now, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the final casting choice revealed in the next year.
