Casting for the DCU’s Wonder Woman may well be under way, thanks to a new report which suggests the next instalment in the franchise is gathering pace.
The new DC Universe franchise, created by James Gunn and Peter Safran, is off to an explosive start with this year’s Superman receiving high praise.
Next year we’ll be getting a follow-up based on Supergirl, who appeared briefly in Superman, as well as a Clayface film. There’s also a Superman sequel in development titled Man of Tomorrow, which has allegedly just started casting for some new roles appearing in the film.
As reported by Nexus Point News, 'a new female hero is being cast for the film', which could indicate that Wonder Woman may be about to be introduced to the DCU.

Nexus Point News describes the role as being for an actor 'in her late twenties and having an edge to her', and that there is a 'height requirement for this character and they’re looking for taller actresses'.

The character is 'described as being a warrior and having a strong physique', with all these details hinting that this could indeed be Wonder Woman. However, Nexus Point also suggests it might not be her, and could be characters like Big Barda or Black Canary as well.
Considering Superman featured lesser-known DC characters like Metamorpho and Mister Terrific, we wouldn’t put it past Gunn to be casting a less well-known DC female superhero as opposed to Wonder Woman.
Of course, it’s important to take all of this with a pinch of salt for the time being. A Wonder Woman film is in development, penned by Ana Nogueira who is also writing next year’s Supergirl film.
Which Actor Should Play DCU’s Wonder Woman?
Popular fancasts for Wonder Woman include Andor’s Adria Arjona and Scream’s Melissa Barrera.
Both actors have proven themselves at being able to play strong heroic characters in the past, being able to strike a perfect balance between being tough and sensitive, which is what a role like Wonder Woman demands.
Other fancasts for the role include May Calamawy, Melissanthi Mahut, and Katy O’Brian, which all seem like rather excellent choices.
If Wonder Woman is indeed set to appear in Man of Tomorrow, it’s likely that we’ll hear about her casting sometime next year. However, if she’s going to debut in her own film, it might be a few years yet before we actually know who’s playing her.
