Wonder Woman’s return to the DC Universe has been teased at, and viewers are a little divided on how she may be introduced to the franchise.
James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe is only just getting started, but given the positive reception to Superman and Peacemaker Season 2, it seems to be on a good trajectory so far.
In terms of upcoming film projects in the DCU, we’ve got Supergirl and Clayface next year, plus a Superman sequel titled Man of Tomorrow slated for 2027. There are also a host of new TV series and video games also coming out.
Gunn has also said that a new Wonder Woman project is in the works, though details of that have been rather light so far.

A director for the film hasn’t been confirmed yet, though DCEU Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins has weighed in on her possible return to the DC canon.

Could Patty Jenkins return for a third Wonder Woman film?
“You know what, you never say never because I love Wonder Woman,” Jenkins said during an interview with M.C.U.N. However, she also reiterated that she is “so excited with what I am doing and it's always good to do something new.”

Essentially, it sounds like Jenkins is open to directing another Wonder Woman film, even if it comes a little bit after she’s wrapped up her current projects.
Fans are pretty divided on how Wonder Woman may be introduced in the DCU, too.
“If they cast well and the movie is good, very,” a fan wrote in response to a question on Reddit about how popular the DCU’s interpretation of Wonder Woman may be.
“I'd like to see someone who gives off somewhat of a similar vibe to David Corenswet,” wrote another fan regarding possible casting. “Give us someone who embodies the Diana from Justice League Unlimited.”

Jenkins directed two Wonder Woman films for the DCEU, beginning with Wonder Woman in 2017 and followed up by Wonder Woman 1984 in 2020.
The first film earned $824 million at the box office and was the third-highest grossing film in the franchise overall. It holds a score of 93% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, indicating that it was generally well received from most reviewers.
Wonder Woman 1984, on the other hand, was generally seen as disappointing by fans upon its release. It holds a Rotten Tomatoes score of 58% and saw disappointing returns at the box office, only earning around $169 million.
Jenkins was due to direct a third Wonder Woman film for Warner Bros. Pictures, with the picture being officially greenlit at the end of 2020. However, it was later cancelled following the launch of DC Studios, with Gunn and Safran rebooting the entire franchise.
