Steam limited-time free cozy gaming event will help you find your next Stardew Valley
If you’re a fan of cozy gaming, then Wholesome Games Celebration absolutely must be on your radar.
The event, presented by Wholesome Games, is currently being held on PC storefront Steam, where it’s due to draw to a close on August 13 at 10am PT / 1pm EST / 6pm BST.
If you haven’t yet stopped by the event, it’s the perfect place to find your next cozy obsession if you need a break from the likes of Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, or Pokémon Pokopia.
The event includes tons of discounts on both beloved and brand new cozy games.

You could secure 10% off the newly released Capy Castaway or Spiritstead, or 40% off the must-play puzzler Botany Manor.

Rainbow Billy: The Book of Fears
This upcoming adventure from Manavoid follows on from 2021’s excellent Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan.
If you’re not familiar with that former title, it’s a bit like Scooby-Doo. You’ll play as a young sleuth who becomes involved in some strange supernatural mysteries.
The Book of Fears looks set to be another wonderfully animated entry as players look for clues and solve puzzles.
Rainbow Billy: The Book of Fears’ demo is actually a unique prologue featuring story content that won’t appear in the final game, instead bridging the gap between the series’ two mainline entries.
Wild n Chill
From developer Wombat Brawler, Wild n Chill sees you simply exploring a pixel art wilderness.
You’ll set up a humble abode in an off-grid cabin, venturing out every day to forage, hunt, and craft, accompanied by your trusted canine.
Players can enjoy Wild n Chill alone or with friends. It’s a simple premise, but one glimpse at the art style and you’ll quickly be drawn in.
Rubber Bird
If you enjoy platformers, then Rubber Bird is one to keep an eye on.
From developer Outretaupe, this two-to-three-hour physics-based platformer sees you step into the shoes of Rub the Bird, who, for whatever reason, has arms.
Using Rub’s unusual appendages, you’ll jump, scratch, grab, and throw your way through the game in this zany platforming experience.
It’s set within a relaxing pastel-coloured world, and there are plenty of chances to simply have fun, whether that’s playing in a park or ramming blocks over for the sake of it.
The demo comprises three levels and one minigame, so you’ll get a decent taster of what’s on offer.
Sandcastle
There’s no better beach activity than building a sandcastle, and that’s something that the aptly titled Sandcastle understands all too well.
Sandcastle is a relaxing simulation building game developed by Bubblebird Studio, where you, you guessed it, build sandcastles.
Players will carve moats, raise towers and walls, and embellish their builds using driftwood, pebbles, shells, and seaweed in this charming and whimsical game.
It’s set on a tropical shore where the tide will gently waft in and out, and a soft surf will wash up on the beach.
Already, this one has a 96% rating on its demo, correct at the time of writing, with one player remarking, “Insanely fun game. The demo is wonderful, I will 100% buy this when it comes out.”

Locomochi
Locomochi is our final recommendation, with this one coming from developer Little Lantern Games.
It’s described as a cozy and relaxing puzzle game where players will control a toy train. You’ll need to deliver the right goods, solve railway puzzles, and explore a sprawling, charming world.
Devs say that there are no timers involved nor punishments for getting anything wrong, with Locomochi intended to be a calming experience.
Hopefully, one of these five games floats your boat (if not all) but for those that are hard to please, it’s well worth browsing both Wholesome Games Celebrations’ deals and demos sections before it’s too late.
