DCU, Batman fans unite over perfect new Harley Quinn casting

Let's not Jinx it

The DCU has finally arrived with the release of Superman, and while we don’t have the next film coming anytime soon, it hasn’t stopped fans casting choices for the inevitable DCU Batman film.

This time we’re not talking about who will play Batman and Bruce Wayne, we’re instead looking at the villain, or anti-villain, Harley Quinn.

We’re sure that James Gunn is thinking hard about his future heroes and villains, but until he announces his intentions, fans will be putting names forward eagerly.

Gunn has already handled the character of Harley Quinn before, but he’s likely to recast the role rather than use Margot Robbie, and fans think that Ella Purnell would be perfect.

Over on Reddit, NonStopLine7820 put forward the idea and asked for thoughts from the community.

“It would be cool to see her in bigger things,” said one Redditor.

The casting is inspired and likely fuelled by Purnell’s voice acting as Jinx in the League of Legends spin-off TV show, Arcane.

The two characters share a lot of synergy and chaos, and Purnell has both serious acting chops and the ability to lean into comedy.

This could prove a problem for some viewers, as mentioned by Etticos, who said, “She definitely has a great voice for the character. Though it may be difficult because I’d just end up seeing Jinx the whole time.”

“She's one of my top 5 choices for the role,” replied GorillaWolf2099.

“How did I never think of this?” said another user.

Purnell has stated in the past that she doesn’t want to be typecast in either film or games, and this could be a reason she would say no to the role if offered.

A last comment from Reddit focuses on this, saying, “She's easily one of the best choice for HQ, but I do would like her to portray a character different from what we've already seen from her.”
