Batman Fans Losing Their Minds Over Surprise Casting Announcement

You really are the most devious Batman in New Gotham Citayyyy

A brand new Batman is on the way, and he’s (they?) are bringing an unfamiliar face along with them for the ride.

Last night, Gamescom 2025’s opening night live kicked off… and it was rubbish.

Thankfully, however, there were a couple of bright spots during the event.

We got 0.3 seconds of gameplay from Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight: Silksong, an extended glimpse at Resident Evil 9, and the announcement of a new Batman game.

Details regarding the new LEGO Batman title are pretty sparse for the time being, but there are a few things we can confirm.

You’ll be playing as a bunch of different Batmans (Batmen?) as you work your way through different live-action DC films, and it’s being developed by TT Games.

Also, we got a bit of a surprise reveal regarding the new voice for Bane. Have a look at the trailer for Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight and see if you can hear who it is for yourself.

Oh, or, I guess I could just tell you; it’s Matt Berry, who you may know for his work on What We Do in the Shadows, The IT Crowd, and Amazon's Fallout series.

Needless to say, the folks over on r/gaming think this casting is hilarious.

“Matt Berry voicing Bane was something I never thought I needed”, commented user Solh0und.

“Matt Berry as Bane is genius casting”, replied user HotPotatoWithCheese.

“MATT BERRY AS BANE, LETS GO”, commented user thedrizzle126.

I think for a LEGO game, this is borderline perfect. Matt Berry’s voice just lends itself so well to a goofy project like this, and I’m already excited to hear all of his dumb takes on Tom Hardy’s lines.

Hopefully this means that the cast for the game is a little bit more stacked than it may appear though, as we still don’t know who will be voicing the likes of Batman, The Joker, or Commissioner Gordon.
