Star Wars fans are set to reap the fruits of EA's controversial reshuffle as reports suggest that Cal Kestis is about to drop a huge trilogy story as he won the internal war against Mass Effect.
Earlier this month, EA upset thousands of sci-fi fans with the announcement that BioWare will be shutting down.
The controversial move came after the new state-owned Saudi Arabian PIF fund took control of the fabled game publisher and called for a reshuffle of funds and resources.
Yet while many fans mourned the great franchises created by BioWare, such as Dragon Age, Baldur's Gate, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire, it was an upcoming Mass Effect trilogy title that served as a saber to the heart.

The cancellation of Mass Effect Universe has been met with mass resistance from a thirsty fan base, as a petition to save the game has smashed 200,000 signatures.
EA quickly tried to avert attention by suggesting that Star Wars Battlefront III will be released instead, but reports now suggest that EA actually weighed up Mass Effect against Star Wars and chose to go all in on the galaxy far, far away.
And, at the front of the argument was Cal Kestis.
Star Wars Jedi 3 set to be the Mass Effect Universe replacement at EA
Star Wars games are back. The series has reached its strongest point in 20 years with back-to-back releases in Zero Company and Galactic Racer.
Yet the success of the franchise owes a lot to the Jedi series, as Cal Kestis' story reignited that lightsaber-swinging phenomenon in a thrilling fashion.
Following the success of Jedi Survivor, we've long been calling for a third game, and new adventures were finally confirmed earlier this year.
Now, industry insider Jason Schreier has revealed that Star Wars Jedi 3 is 'far' into production and an announcement is imminent.

Taking to social media, Schreier said, "Why did EA shut down BioWare? Twitter thinks the studio failed because it was too woke. BlueSky thinks Saudi Arabia killed the studio for being too gay. The real reason? Star Wars."
Yet as to which title has been the Mass Effect killer, he quickly pointed his attention to Jedi 3.
"Jedi 3 is far in development; Battlefront 3 hasn't even started yet," he added.
Respawn Entertainment, which reportedly recently canned a Titanfall title in favour of work on Apex Legends and Jedi, has been silently going about building the new open-world title, which is now expected to be announced in full 'soon'.
In his report, the gaming guru said that the entire Star Wars franchise is to blame for the Mass Effect closure, though.
"The company’s executives found themselves with two sci-fi action games that were each projected to cost hundreds of millions of dollars: Star Wars Battlefront III and the next Mass Effect title," he continued.
"They chose to invest in Star Wars and shut down BioWare as a result, said the people familiar, speaking anonymously because they were not authorized to talk to the press."
We're not sure if this news makes the bitter pill any less painful to swallow, or if it rubs salt in the wound knowing that the Mass Effect trilogy game will now likely not be sold as a direct competitor to the Star Wars instalments.
Either way, Cal Kestis returning is great news, and we're excited to see just what he's been building at the new Jedi temple in Tanalorr.
