Polyaris is an upcoming title you might want to add to your wishlist, especially if you’re a fan of both Valheim and Uncharted.

Developed and set to be published by Magic Pie, Polyaris is somewhat of a chameleon of a game.

It perhaps best belongs in the survival category, but there’s RPG and adventure elements at play here too.

This is a single-player, first-person experience set within a post-nuclear, procedurally generated Arctic world.

“Survive the cold, ski through icy wastelands, find essential resources, fight enemies, and uncover the mystery of why you are the last one alive,” teases the synopsis.

“You're an engineer-polar explorer who finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time: somewhere in the far north on the border of Norway and Russia. A nuclear explosion occurs, but since you are in the Arctic zone, you are not directly affected.”

It continues, “However, you lose contact with the outside world, and for some reason, there is no one around. Now it's just you, your skis, the melting glaciers, a boat, and a mystery you must solve.”

As you’ve probably grasped, traversal is mainly done via your skis, and you’ll be equipped with both melee and ranged weapons to deal with any enemies you may encounter.

There’s a fishing and crafting system, plus a portable radio system - and as I said, this is a procedurally generated world, so you shouldn’t ever run out of places to explore.

It’s a boat which will actually function as your base, allowing it to be mobile and travel with you during your exploration.

Devs recommend the game for those who also enjoyed The Long Park, The Long Drive, The Forest, Sons of the Forest, and SunkenLand.

As for that mystery the synopsis teased, it all concerns why you’re seemingly the last one alive.

Polyaris is a title you’ll have to wishlist for now, as it’s not due out just yet.

It remains without a release date although developers have narrowed down the window to Q4 2025, so we’re talking October, November, or December of this year.

Polyaris is currently only due to launch on PC / Steam, but perhaps a console launch will follow if the game proves to be successful.
