Borderlands Fantasy RPG Spinoff 'Tiny Tina's Wonderland' Announced

2K Games and Gearbox have announced a brand new Borderlands spinoff with a fantasy twist. Tiny Tina's Wonderland was announced during Summer Game Fest, and it looks to be a decidedly anarchic looter/shooter with a Dungeons & Dragons flavour.

Take a look at the announcement trailer below. Gearbox confirmed that while Tiny Tina's Wonderland shares some DNA with Borderlands, it's its own beast entirely. Expect plenty of spells to learn, character customisation, and a fantasy world to explore as Tiny Tina herself guides a party of adventurers through trials and tribulations. Think the Assault on Dragon's Keep DLC for Borderlands 2, but a full game. Sounds good to us.

Tiny Tina's Wonderland also has a pretty solid cast, including Will Arnett, Andy Samberg, and Ashly Burch. Provided the writing can match the quality of its stars, this could end up being a genuinely funny game that's well worth a look. Of the game, Burch (who we recently interviewed) said: "Tiny Tina has her own thing going on... She is your bunker master, guiding the narrative... taking your cast of characters through this wacky world, to defeat the Dragon Lord."

Gearbox has promised we'll learn more about Tiny Tina's Wonderland - and presumably this Dragon Lord character - this summer, ahead of an early 2022 release, so stay tuned for more info as it comes. Gearbox also has its own E3 showcase coming up on June 12 - check here for our full guide to that event, and many more.

2022 will also see the release of Eli Roth's Borderlands movie, which stars Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Cate Blanchett, and Jamie Lee Curtis.

"These unlikely heroes must battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect the missing girl, who may hold the key to unimaginable power," reads a line from the movie's official synopsis. "The fate of the universe could be in their hands--but they'll be fighting for something more: each other."

2022 should be a hell of a year for Borderlands fans, basically.
