Red Dead Redemption 2 fans losing their minds over game's biggest official update in years

Not the good kind of "losing their minds", though

Great news, Red Dead Redemption II fans: Rockstar Games has finally released a brand new update for Red Dead Online, after essentially ignoring the game for years.

Oh, uh, never mind– apparently the fans hate it.

In case you missed it, here’s the rundown: Rockstar Games just released a new update for Red Dead Online, titled Strange Tales of the West, Volume 1.

It adds a bunch of new missions and even some cool new enemies to fight to the game, like zombies and robots. Sweet, right?

Well no, apparently. That’s because basically every single commenter over in a thread celebrating the new update on the r/RedDeadOnline subreddit hates it, and they’re not entirely convinced that the game has been “revived” at all.

“No it’s dead”, commented user ThinkingBud.

“The new telegram missions are more like a death reflex rather than a resurrection.”

“It is dead. They added nothing worth a s**t”, replied user FredFredBurger6.

“You all are in denial. Rockstar isn't gonna revive it.”

Ok so, I kinda get where everyone is coming from here. They think this is more of a case of like a dead cat bounce, and that this relatively small update is simply Rockstar Games throwing players a bone before they finally finish with the game.

However, I can’t help but think they’re kind of ignoring one crucial part of the new update that implies that’s definitely not the case.

The update is literally called Strange Tales of the West, Volume 1. As in, the first entry. Y’know, kind of implying that there will be a second, at the very least?

Now I’m not trying to get your hopes up. I don’t think Volume 2 will be some huge, expansion-sized update… but at least Rockstar Games is outright telling us that they’ve not abandoned it completely.

Pretty sure that won’t be the case once GTA VI drops, though.
