‘Grand Theft Auto’ Fans Roast Trilogy Remasters With Hilarious Memes

‘Grand Theft Auto’ Fans Roast Trilogy Remasters With Hilarious Memes

"His feet get less detailed, all the polygons went straight to his head."

Our first proper look at Grand Theft Auto The Trilogy - Definitive Edition has been released, and Rockstar Games is showing off these classics in a new light. Naturally, the reaction from fans has split the room, and made for some funny memes too.

The Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City remakes were a whisper in the wind for a long time with reports alleging that the games would be a mix of old and new art styles with overhauled controls. Those scoops turned out to be entirely correct as the studio announced the existence of the remakes earlier this month and set the Internet alight.

Of course, it’s one thing to reveal the existence of the revamped versions of the games, and it’s another thing to show off these versions in a spiffy trailer. Rockstar Games had described the "across-the-board enhancements, including brilliant new lighting and environmental upgrades, with high-resolution textures, increased draw distances” that the newer games would benefit from, and the gameplay we’ve seen treads water in the realm of fully fledged remakes without hollowing out the original aesthetics.

Take a look at the trailer right here!

As you might expect, fans have a lot of opinions on the visuals of the games. They are a far cry from the original releases, to be sure, but they don’t look too funky… right?

Yeah. It does look a little like The Sims. A lot like The Sims, actually. I like those games so this isn’t too much of an issue for me. Still, there are as many people ribbing the remasters as there are people who are really happy with the fresh coat of paint the games have gotten.

Grand Theft Auto The Trilogy - Definitive Edition comes to PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One on November 11th, 2021. A word to the wise — if you buy the bundle from the official Rockstar Store before January 5th, 2022, that transaction will offer you $10 off another product from the store costing $15 or more.
