It’s Friday once again.
And if you’re after a little reward for making it through yet another working week, then I have just the thing as Steam is currently giving away a highly-rated 2017 release for free.
This is just the latest example in what has been a busy ol’ week for free games on the PC storefront.
There are four new free-to-play titles to enjoy, plus a new demo that’ll keep the metroidvania fans amongst you entertained for a good long while.

Today though, it’s Battlestar Galactica Deadlock that I want to draw your attention to, as the turn-based strategy RPG is currently free for a limited time.
Developed by Black Lab Games and published by Slitherine Ltd, this one would usually set you back £33.50, so this is a saving well worth taking advantage of.
All you need to do is head to its Steam page and click ‘Add to Account’, and it’s yours to keep forever.
Just make sure that you do that before 17 July when this offer will expire at 6pm. I’m assuming that’s presented to me in local time, BST, but the listing isn’t clear so I’d nab this one sooner rather than later.

Battlestar Galactica Deadlock sees you taking “command of the Colonial Fleet in defence of the Twelve Colonies during the First Cylon War”.
“Lead many different types of ships in this 3D tactical game. Every decision counts, your strategy will be vital – can you ensure mankind’s survival?” the synopsis teases.
Battlestar Galactica Deadlock fared pretty well with reviewers upon release, scoring 77 on Metacritic.
It’s since proven even more popular with Steam’s user base.

Battlestar Galactica Deadlock currently has a ‘Very Positive’ accolade, with 90% of players agreeing.
“Battlestar Galactica Deadlock absolutely nails the spirit of the show. It doesn’t try to rewrite the lore or take creative liberties — it respects the source material and builds on it beautifully. The atmosphere, music, ships, and tone all feel authentically BSG, and it kept me engaged from start to finish,” wrote one player.
“Best space battle game I've ever played, not found anything else like it,” added another.
There’s no reason not to nab it and give it a whirl; all you’ve got to lose is a tiny snippet of time, and we all do that doomscrolling on our phones.
