The Legend of Zelda fans continue to yearn for Wind Waker and Twilight Princess remakes, but the truth is that the fandom has it good.
If you take a look at the highest rated games of all-time, two of them belong to the franchise; those being Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild.
Tears of the Kingdom and The Wind Waker could very easily belong in that top 10 too, if you ask me, both with Metacritic scores of 96.
Last year’s Echoes of Wisdom was yet another success, with Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment due next for the franchise in late 2025.

I’d assume a new 3D mainline instalment is in development beyond that.
What I’m saying is that the fandom is hardly starved of content, especially as I haven’t even mentioned the film adaptation.
Even still fans have taken to creating their own during this short interim and one particular project is dazzling fans with its incredible animated visuals.
YouTuber vasge is in the midst of remaking the original The Legend of Zelda in a hand-drawn animated art style.

It’s early days for the project, with its second developer log landing just two weeks ago.
In it, vasge showcased the enemies he’d added to the game and my goodness, this project is a work of art.
I’ll let the available footage do the talking.
Vasge is clearly incredibly talented and although the remake has a long way to go, this demo could easily pass for something made by a full-fledged studio.

I’m not the only person full of praise.
“God I pray this doesn’t get a cease and desist,” one viewer wrote.
“This is absolutely gorgeous,” another added. “I’m consistently confused when creators do these amazon things and they aren’t immediately hired by mainline game makers.”
My thoughts exactly. We’ll be keeping an eye on this one as it progresses.
