The Legend Of Zelda Reimagined As Hilarious Sitcom, Works Shockingly Well

Is it wrong that I kind of want this?

The Legend of Zelda has been reimagined into a popular US sitcom, and shockingly, it works rather well.

Ever since its inception in 1986 on the NES, The Legend of Zelda series has been a funny game series. When you think of The Legend of Zelda, you might think of its darker themes - apocalyptic dangers, the perils of a Hero, the losses along the way. But honestly, it's also home to some of the funniest moments in gaming. I'm particularly thinking of this moment, where Link's Loftwing spits a letter at him while he's sleeping in Skyward Sword.

I really hope to see some of those comedic beats come through in the live-action The Legend of Zelda movie, currently scheduled to be released in May 2027. And of course, who could forget the classic 1989 The Legend of Zelda TV series?

Though maybe I'm laughing at that for the wrong reasons.

The Legend of Zelda meets Friends

The latest game to release was The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, a game that recently passed a very grim milestone. Perhaps the wait for a new game is driving fans slightly bonkers.

One fan has created the unexpected mash-up of the game in question with one of the most popular sitcoms in television history, Friends.

A video begins with Link falling from the sky as the iconic Friends theme music from the one-hit wonder band The Rembrandts begins to play, before we see the likes of Tulin, Yunobo, Sidon, Riju, Mineru, and, of course, Princess Zelda.

Somehow, some way, this The Legend of Zelda and Friends concoction works better than I could ever have expected.

The Legend of Zelda and Friends mash-up was shared by Reddit user merrimac290.

“Someone make a gameplay video of an episode with recorder laughs,” asked Labyrinthine77 in response.

“Starting the cast intro with Tulin was the right choice. Loved it,” exclaimed Saucy-Mustard.

Listen, I'm pretty sure the upcoming Zelda movie won't be anything like this. But I can't be the only one who wants to see this made into a full 20 minute Friends episode? I might even actually watch Friends, if it was like this.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom are out now on both generation Nintendo Switch consoles. They're some of my favourite games of all time, so definitely check them out.
