Today mark’s the third anniversary of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, with the acclaimed sequel having originally landed on 12 May 2023.
It’s difficult to fathom just how quickly time flies, although that doesn’t mean that we’re not itching to get our hands on a new mainline Zelda entry.
There’s been plenty else to enjoy with spin-off The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom having landed in 2024 followed by Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment in 2025.
Later this year, it’s believed that a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will headline the Nintendo Switch 2’s holiday offering.

It’s likely going to be a while before a true new mainline entry is announced, especially as this latest franchise release signals that Nintendo is hoping we’ll return to Tears of the Kingdom.
Last year, a new set of amiibo were announced for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Tulin, Yunobo, Riju, and Sidon all received amiibo figures in June of that year but the amiibo for Mineru’s Construct, which was also announced, never came to light.
Months on, gamers wondered whether the amiibo had been cancelled perhaps due to its complex design.
Well, someone needs to speak to Nintendo because after promising in April of 2025 that the Mineru’s Construct figure would be “coming soon”, it’s now finally been given a release date of 17 September 2026.
“The Mineru’s Construct amiibo arrives September 17th – complete with articulated arms,” Nintendo tweeted.
“You can use this amiibo in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to unlock a special fabric for Link’s paraglider, as well as some useful items for your adventure.”

Despite the fact that the Mineru’s Construct amiibo is landing years after many of us wrapped up our adventures in Tears of the Kingdom, hype doesn’t appear to have dulled.
“This looks awesome,” replied one fan.
“Huge W for me as an amiibo collector,” remarked another Twitter/X user.
Not everyone is letting this one slide.
“Wait … This is 15 months between the announcement and launch. And three years and four months between game and amiibo. Weird timeline guys,” someone said.
It is incredibly strange, but this wouldn’t be the only time that Nintendo has launched amiibo at a weird time.
Resident Evil Requiem landed on Nintendo Switch 2 earlier this year on 27 February, coinciding with its release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
On Nintendo Switch 2, Resident Evil Requiem players will be able to make use of unique Leon and Grace amiibo figures but those are strangely not due out until 30 July.
This isn’t as long of a wait as the Mineru’s Construct amiibo, certainly, but many Resident Evil Requiem players have wrapped up their time with the game.
Is Nintendo’s peculiar launch strategy nonsensical or a ploy to encourage interest in older games for those who might not yet have picked them up?
Either way, it’s nice to know that Mineru’s Construct will soon be ours.
