Tomorrow will see Nintendo host its next Nintendo Direct showcase and with 60 minutes of announcements expected, The Legend of Zelda fans are hoping that there will be some news about an upcoming release.

Set to air on 12 September, the next Nintendo Direct is almost upon us.

Set to feature “roughly 60 minutes of information on upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch games”, it remains to be seen which titles will be showcased but with many Nintendo games in the pipeline, there is one in particular that fans are calling out for.

Back in April, Nintendo announced Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment and revealed that it would be released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2.

Set before the events of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment will follow entries such as Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity to bring us a spin-off prequel and will detail the events leading up to the Imprisoning War.

“Experience the epic battles of the Imprisoning War first-hand in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, storming onto Nintendo Switch 2 this winter,” the official synopsis reads.

With a late 2025-early 2026 release date, we are not yet quite sure when we can expect the next Legend of Zelda title to drop but fans are hoping that we will receive new information at tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct.

When discussing which titles they expect to see featured at tomorrow’s showcase, one fan said, “Yeah my guess is Metroid in December and Zelda: Age of Imprisonment in Feb 2026.”

However, another fan was quick to reassure fans by adding, “Hyrule Warriors.

Just so people don't freak out and think it's a new mainline Zelda they didn't hear about.”

Additionally, one Zelda fan seemingly has very high hopes.

“All I’m looking for is a new Fire Emblem and a new Zelda (the rumored Ocarina of Time remake perhaps?)”, they asked.

There is no doubt that an Ocarina of Time remake announcement would send fans into a frenzy but with Nintendo having a lot of other titles in the pipeline, this seems unlikely.

But we can still hope.

The Nintendo Direct showcase kicks off on 12 September at 6am PT and will be available to watch on both the official Nintendo Twitch and Youtube channels.
