The Legend of Zelda Fans Roast Nintendo Over Delayed Release

I can't be the only one who forgot this existed

The Legend of Zelda fans aren’t exactly thrilled with Nintendo, although I’m hopeful all will be rectified in due course.

The fandom is hardly starved of content. Tears of the Kingdom, Echoes of Wisdom, and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment launched in recent years, and a live action film adaptation of the franchise is on the way in 2027.

Still, there are a lot of question marks over what’s coming next if you place the film to one side.

I’d imagine we’re several years off from the reveal of a new mainline The Legend of Zelda entry, but there is one announced franchise release that’s yet to see the light of day.

In April of last year, so we’re talking 2025, several Tears of the Kingdom amiibo were announced.

One Announced Amiibo is Yet To Come To Light

Tulin, Yunobo, Riju, and Sidon were all confirmed to be receiving amiibo figures in June of that year, with Nintendo adding that a Mineru’s Construct amiibo would follow.

The company’s exact words were, “A Mineru’s Construct amiibo will also be released later!”

We’re rapidly approaching 12 months on though and the Mineru’s Construct amiibo is nowhere to be seen - and that’s a great shame for an amiibo with such a cool design.

“Are we ever going to get this?” asked Reddit user WillowDelRio. “They promised a Construct amiibo soon, but still no news at all.”

“Later,” replied Larkson9999.

“I'll never understand why some amiibo are released so much later than their relevant games. The people that would have used the amiibo have moved on at that point,” added neoslith, making an excellent point.

Granted, Tears of the Kingdom - much like Breath of the Wild - doesn’t seem to have lost its appeal, but this can’t be the optimal time to launch an amiibo for it.

“If there is ever a time, it would be for Zelda's 40th this year. If not, I will assume this idea is dead,” Boomshockalocka007 wrote.

I was thinking much the same.

The Legend of Zelda celebrates its 40th anniversary on 21 February, so next month. I’d love to think that Nintendo has a secret game up its sleeve, but I don’t think that’s very likely.

It’s perhaps more likely that we’ll get a film teaser trailer and perhaps a classic Zelda game of yesteryear ported onto the Switch 2.

It wouldn’t surprise me if some merch reveals were thrown in to extend the anniversary offerings, with this amiibo maybe being one of them.

I will say though that if it doesn’t surface for the anniversary, I’m with Boomshockalocka007. Maybe the idea was just canned.

Mineru’s Construct’s design looks pretty detailed. It could be that the figure was too tricky to manufacture, although I’d expect that would’ve come to light way before the item was announced.

Let’s hope this missing The Legend of Zelda release shows up soon.
