To the disappointment of fans across the world, Rockstar Games recently delayed GTA VI to 19 November, 2026.
However, a new conspiracy over on r/GTA6 points out a strange coincidence - the gap between Red Dead Redemption 2’s third trailer and its release was 177 days - the exact same number of days that now separate Grand Theft Auto 6’s original 26 May 2026 release date, and the new confirmed date.
Coincidence? I think NOT.
Well, maybe. But some fans over on Reddit think it points towards Rockstar’s grand master plan, including a hint at when we could see the third GTA 6 trailer.

When is the GTA 6 Trailer 3 Dropping?
The simple answer is, there’s no trailer date for GTA 6’s third trailer yet. But things are never that simple. If the ‘177 day theory’ is to be believed, 26 May 2026 becomes the logical date for the next big GTA 6 reveal, even beyond the fact it was the original release date.
This is seemingly supported by the recent Take-Two earnings call that mentioned a summer marketing push, along with an update on GTA 6's pre-order rumour.
In fact, off the back of that we debunked a lot of rumors swirling the internet. I’d put May solidly in Summer, wouldn’t you? That only adds fuel to the ‘177 day’ GTA 6 theory.

One user on /rGTA 6 commented: Would be nice if they released the third trailer on the day the game was supposed to be released.
It could happen. It could not.
On the flip side, the skeptics provide a necessary reality check.
One user dryly noted that "60 seconds pass every minute at Rockstar," mocking the idea that the studio would delay one of the most anticipated games of all time for no clear reason, or as a subtle nod to a decade-old delay.
Could it Mean Anything?
Personally, I’m left with one big question - why?
Why would Rockstar delay their game twice - shifting from its initial 2025 plan to May 2026, and then to its current confirmed November release date?
While we want Rockstar to take their time and deliver a masterpiece, it’s not like the bitter sting of disappointment is something they’d actively scheme to plant in their audience.
Have you ever heard of apophenia? It’s basically the human tendency to perceive meaningful patterns within random data.
It’s a bit like confirmation bias. The 177 day theory is a 1/365 chance. Less, once you consider national holidays and other days where Rockstar are unlikely to release a big trailer.
When you have millions of fans desperate for the delays to make sense and combing through the data, a number is bound to match up somewhere.
In saying that, I do think it’s inevitable we’ll get news on the original 26 May release date, even if it's just a cheeky nod from Rockstar Games.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a trailer three though!
