You can release that breath you’ve been holding. Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto VI remains on track to launch on 19 November.

It appears as if we’re finally safe from a third delay following Take-Two Interactive’s latest earnings call.

If I’m being perfectly honest, a delay can never truly be ruled out until a title has gone gold, but GTA VI looks set to smoothly cruise its way towards the finish line.

That’s because Take-Two has confirmed that marketing for the highly anticipated title will kick off this summer - and that’ll surely include a deep dive into gameplay.

Perhaps more importantly though, a comment was made that certainly puts my mind at ease when it comes to pre-orders.

Strauss Zelnick Dispelled Rumours Concerning Delayed Physical Copies of GTA VI

Whilst we still don’t quite know when pre-orders will open, Take-Two Interactive has confirmed that reports circulating the internet about a digital-only launch are nonsense.

During the latest earnings call, Take-Two Interactive’s CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked about the supposed ‘delay’ to GTA VI’s physical copies.

If you want to see more from GAMINGbible, make us a preferred source on Google.

“That’s not the plan,” he replied, as reported by IGN, confirming that GTA VI is set to launch both physically and digitally.

He didn’t give anything away about editions nor pricing, but this is news that’s most definitely satisfied myself.

I adore physical copies of games. Holding the cover art in my hands, inserting the disc on launch day for the very first time … it’s all a part of the experience.

And when it comes to a game as anticipated as GTA VI, that’s true even more so.

Part of the joy is simply placing the game on your shelf in your collection, a sweet relief after years of waiting.

Of course, picking up a collector’s edition also comes with the bonus of additional merch to stretch out the launch day experience.

Delaying physical copies would’ve been a terrible move, if you ask me.

The idea posed online was that delaying physical copies would help prevent the leak of spoilers, and I can see merit in that line of thinking.

No one is going to patiently wait months for a physical copy though, which means fans would either feel forced to buy both digital and physical so they could join in on launch day, or settle for digital only which isn’t at all what they might have wanted.

When Will GTA 6 Pre-Orders Launch?

With marketing set to kick off this summer, I’d say we’re talking May at the earliest there.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Take-Two’s next earnings call should take place three months from now, so also in the region of May.

I’d hazard a guess that’s when we could see pre-orders open as it’ll undoubtedly please investors and shareholders.

It goes without saying that should any pre-order developments break, we’ll be sure to bring those to you.
