In a twist worthy of one of its in-game missions, MindsEye has allegedly been victim of a coordinated take down reportedly worth over €1 million ($1,182,350.00 / £860,000). Was it an intentional sabotage of a game that could’ve truly threatened GTA 6? Or could it be… The game was just never going to be very good.
Well, MindsEye’s co-CEO Mark Gerhard seems to believe the former. During an internal meeting with Build a Rocket Boy employees, sent privately and not for public release to Insider Gaming, he claims that they have “caught the guys who’ve been sabotaging MindsEye”.

Now, if you’ve never heard of MindsEye, let me back it up a bit. Its Steam page describes it as an “ever-expanding gameplay experience with a story campaign, endless stream of new playable content delivered regularly, and the power to create your own games with our simple to use building tool.”
Let me break down that buzzword salad for you.
It basically means that you get access to the same tools the developers used to make the game, so you can make your own missions.
The developers at Build A Rocket Boy also release official new missions, races, and challenges, similar to how Grand Theft Auto Online gets new jobs
When it launched back in June 2025, players and critics alike felt that the GTA-like had poor mission structure, a dull open world, inconsistent design, and far too many bugs to count. At launch, only 6% of critics on OpenCritic actually recommended it. In an increasingly-common move, PlayStation even delisted it from one section of its store and offered disappointed players with refunds.
That being said, new updates have seen an uptick in 'very positive' recent reviews. Oh, and it’s 50% off on Steam as of today!

Who Was Behind the Apparent MindsEye Sabotage?
Gerhard claims it was a “very big American company” behind the campaign, but that “it’s probably not the company you’re thinking of”.
The accusation gets specific. He claims that this “big American company” paid "a bunch of gangsters” from UK creator support platform Ritual Network to allegedly sabotage MindsEye, apparently with the help of an influencer, three journalists, and internal Build a Rocket Boy employees.
Ritual Network has denied all knowledge. Speaking to Insider Gaming about the allegations, it said:
“Ritual Network is a creator support platform and is not involved in the matter you referenced.
We are not aware of any legitimate legal action involving Ritual Network and have not been provided with any evidence supporting these claims.
Any suggestion that Ritual Network is connected to these allegations is incorrect.”
Build A Rocket Claim They Have Proof
When asked for comment, a Build a Rocket Boy spokesperson said that they “don’t comment on leaked internal communications”, but that they “do have evidence that there has been a coordinated campaign to purposefully and maliciously damage Build A Rocket Boy’s reputation and undermine confidence in MindsEye”.
We don’t currently know what that ‘proof’ they claim to have is, but Gerhard alleges that all of these individuals will be criminally charged for “espionage, sabotage, and criminal interference.”
In perhaps the funniest way to deal with criminal charges I’ve personally ever seen, Gerhard claims the team will "put some of these names (of the alleged criminals) into our upcoming spy mission."
Well, that’s one way to stir the pot and get people to play MindsEye again.
