Pokémon fans are absolutely thrilled with a new upcoming romhack, that you can play, right now, for free.
Pokémon Lazarus is a completely fan made project by developer Nemo622, and it looks like it’s hitting all of the right marks for fans of the classic Nintendo GameBoy Pokémon titles.
Set in the brand new Ilios Region, Pokémon Lazarus will see players tackle all of the familiar challenges you’d see in a Pokémon title, including catching ‘Mons and taking on gym trainers.
However, although the aesthic is clearly supposed to be inspired by the OG Pokémon Gold/Silver era, it does have a whole bunch of features that were only present in later entries in the franchise, including a full range of weather effects, a day and night cycle, and even ‘Mons from Pokémon titles as recent as Pokémon Scarlet/Violet.

Over on the r/PokemonROMhacks subreddit, fans in the comments are thrilled with the quality of the work that Nemo622 has shown off so far.
“Holy f**k. I don’t remember if the original GBA Pokémon games had moving like, world objects aside from flowers and small stuff like that, but when I walked down Bronze Fields and saw the windmill, I knew this would go down as the f**king GOAT,” commented user Scumrat_Higgins.
“I can’t believe you managed to top Emerald Seaglass but I’m dying for more.”
“This is shaping up to be an all time hack classic, fingers crossed the project would get completed”, replied user Logical_Access_8868.

They’re still hard at work on the full release, but they just released a new development update a few days ago, so it sounds like we might not have much longer to wait.
