As much as we all endlessly criticise PlayStation Plus, it’s something that’s served the vast majority of us well in the last 15 years.

Like many of you, I’m dubious with regards to the value for money of the premium tier.

PlayStation Plus has revealed several price hikes in recent years, much to the dismay of users, and given that the classics catalogue receives one to three games a month at most, it’s pricey for what’s on offer.

Sure, you get free trials, cloud streaming, and an array of random films to watch but it’s pretty clear in my eyes why this is the most criticised tier.

If you’re an extra or essential subscriber though, despite price hikes, you’re more often than not treated to a bumper crop of games each month including highly requested AAA bangers and incredible indies alike.

For those who are happy with the service, you’re only going to feel more relieved following this newly announced pledge.

And for those who yearn for improvement, well, perhaps this will provide you some solace.

In celebration of the service’s 15th anniversary, Sony has released a PlayStation Plus trailer.

It’s pretty run-of-the-mill stuff, showing some of the games that have been added to the service over the years - and actually, it’s a pretty sick reminder of the quality of PlayStation Plus’ line-ups.

We can be quick to slate it on a monthly basis but it has delivered bangers.

As reported by Push Square, the trailer ended in a tease or pledge of sorts.

“And we’re just getting started,” it stated.

Given that the trailer showcased the prior additions of The Last of Us Part I, God of War Ragnarök, and Horizon Forbidden West, it’s perhaps an indication that we should expect to see more major first-party titles arrive on the service - although not on day one, but sometime after release.

It’s vague, I’ll give you that, but it’s reassuring to know that Sony is constantly striving to deliver with PlayStation Plus, even if it doesn’t always feel like it if you’re disappointed by the latest free game drop.

With Cyberpunk 2077 having landed earlier this week, and the rest of July’s additions arriving in a few days time, I’d say we’re in a pretty good place.
