Some PlayStation fans aren’t too keen on the latest PlayStation 5 hardware reveal, and they do kind of have a point (for once).
Yesterday, Sony treated us to a new State of Play deep dive, specifically focusing on Sucker Punch’s upcoming sequel to Ghost of Tsushima.
They also revealed some new Ghost of Yōtei-themed PlayStation 5 hardware alongside the trailer, and it looks absolutely beautiful. I’m not the type of fella that usually gives a hoot about fancy looking console variants, but even I might have to grab that kintsugi-style one.
So, what’s the issue? You got a new, gorgeous PlayStation 5 variant, and even some faceplates for both the PlayStation 5 Slim and the PlayStation 5 Pro. Everyone wins, no?

Well, a few people in the comments aren’t happy about the lack of OG PlayStation 5 support. You see, can only be purchased for the PS5 Slim and the PS5 Pro, with no variants being produced for the base model PS5.
“No love for the og ps5 unbelievable”, commented user @Km49nK.
“They are treating us like a trash after buying the first ps5 version they released”, replied user @BrodyHaptism.
“That’s the way they thank us.”

“Yeah, I don't know why. I have the og one and I don't want to switch it”, commented user @dawideleq.
“These Covers look great, but I don't want to buy new PS5 to get those.”
Usually when I write these kinds of articles, I kind of think people are complaining just for the fun of it, but this time around I do get the angry response.
A lot of people haven’t made the jump from the base model PS5 yet, and probably never will, so I’m not sure why they’ve chosen not to produce any faceplates for it.

Maybe Sony knows something we don’t, but it does feel like an unnecessary omission to me.
