Dante’s Inferno fans will love this brand-new adventure horror game that takes you into a hellish fantasy world, and best of all, you can play it now, for free, on Steam.
When it comes to being considered a cult classic, 2010’s Dante’s Inferno, created by the original Dead Space developers, Visceral Games, has to be right up there at the top of the list. Amazingly, 16 years have passed since EA released the classic God of War-style game inspired by the Italian poet Dante Alighieri’s The Divine Comedy.
So if you were hoping to play a new Dante’s Inferno, you might as well crush those hopes right now. However, the newly released Steam game, The Alighieri Circle: Dante's Bloodline, might just help to scratch that itch.
What is The Alighieri Circle: Dante’s Bloodline and what kind of game is it?
The Alighieri Circle: Dante's Bloodline is developed by ONE-O-ONE GAMES, a studio that is perhaps best known for the heartbreaking, narratively driven indie game The Suicide of Rachel Foster.
Released on September 10, 2026, for the full game, you can get a taste of The Alighieri Circle: Dante's Bloodline for free by downloading its Steam demo today.
Advert
Much like The Suicide of Rachel Foster, some might consider The Alighieri Circle: Dante's Bloodline to be a walking sim due to it having no direct combat. However, that is often a very unfair label for these kinds of games.
If done right, these narratively driven games will make you think about what you’ve just experienced, long after their story has concluded, and hopefully, The Alighieri Circle: Dante's Bloodline will be no exception.
“The world knows the Divine Comedy as a poem,” reads the synopsis of the game. “For your family, it is a prison. As Gabriele Alighieri, you inherit a duty: reseal the gates of Hell. Burdened by fate, you descend into a psychological nightmare where the only escape is to uncover the dark secrets of your ancestors.”
