Whatever it takes.

Congratulations to Naughty Dog, because The Last Of Us Part II has just smashed an impressive sales record. The recently released post apocalyptic adventure is officially Sony's fastest-selling PS4 exclusive, beating the previous record holder, which was... also Naughty Dog with Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.

This news comes via GamesIndustry.biz, which has found that Naughty Dog's latest effort have enjoyed sales approximately 1% than Uncharted 4. However, as is so often the way, digital sales have yet to factor in. This means that overall sales of The Last Of Us Part II are likely considerably higher than this estimation.

For further comparison, launch sales for Part II are around 76% higher than the original The Last Of Us. Not too surprising, given how the original game's acclaim has only grown over the last seven years.

More impressive still, The Last Of Us Part II is now the UK's fastest-selling boxed game of 2020 so far. It made roughly 40% more money than the previous record holder, Animal Crossing: New Horizons. However, it's worth noting that Nintendo's island life sim released at the end of March, when initial fears over Coronavirus likely contributed to a decrease in physical sales.

The Last Of Us Part II's success comes as users have flocked to Metacritic in their thousands to review bomb the title. At the time of writing, the game has nearly 50,000 user reviews and an average score of 3.9, with over 31,000 negative reviews. For comparison, the original game has a user score of 9.1 with less than 10,000 reviews. Given the original has been out for the better part of a decade, it's not to see what happened here.

The good news is that the game's Metacritic score has, once again, done nothing to impact the overall success of the product. Because, and I cannot stress this enough, most people do not give a crap about Metacritic scores. If you're one of the people who decided to review bomb the game? Congratulations on achieving nothing, I guess.

If you're one of the people who genuinely dislike the game for your own logical reasons? I'm sorry your thoughts have been mixed up into that mess.

Anyway, you can read our full review on The Last Of Us Part II right here. Our very own Mark Foster wasn't actually crazy about it - nor was Mike Diver, who worries that some are hailing it as the pinnacle of this generation of gaming. Personally, I'm absolutely lv
