Being a Skyrim fan means that you accept the fact that you will never know all there is to know about the hit RPG.

That is because, despite the game being almost 15-years old, players are still discovering secrets, Easter eggs and handy little tips that will greatly improve gameplay.

It just goes to show how much attention to detail that Bethesda put into the game and even perhaps explains why The Elder Scrolls VI is taking so long to develop.

Either way, we are now turning our attention to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim as one fan has discovered a useful way to combat the game’s pesky fall damage and many of us are going to kick ourselves for not thinking about it sooner.

According to kyleontheroof (apt name) over on r/skyrim, fall damage can be avoided by using the Become Ethereal Shout.

In the land of Skyrim, Shouts allow the Dragonborn to perform various abilities that greatly help for combat, navigation, and in this case, falling from big heights.

The Become Ethereal Shout does exactly what it says on the tin by allowing the player to become a non-tangible version of themselves which also means that they will take zero damage when falling.

“This shout makes the Dragonborn spectral in appearance and will make them invulnerable to all damage for the duration of the effect; 8/13/18 seconds,” the description reads.

The only downside is that the Shout could run out before you hit the ground depending on its duration so it may take a bit of trial and error.

Either way, fans were grateful for this handy tip and took to the comments to share their thoughts.

“TIL I don't really know how to play Skyrim,” user TequieroVerde shared.

“I needed to know this yesterday,” another user added.

“I died jumping off a cliff after killing a dragon and not hitting any autosave spots.”

Thanks to this Reddit user, we now have another way to jump down those cliffs without shattering our ankles.
