We're sure that you already know that some of the consoles trying to run Cyberpunk 2077 have had it a little rough. We've even had to report that Sony has even had to pull the game entirely from the PlayStation store until the game was in a better condition. So imagine our surprise when we've seen one YouTuber manage to get the game running, and running well on a Nintendo Switch.
Nintendrew (via GameRant) managed to get the newest offering from CD Projekt Red to be fully playable on a Switch in both handheld and docked modes. Yes really, it's true. The YouTuber gave himself a few goals that the project had to meet including good performance, general accessibility for other Switch users to replicate and compatibility with Joy-Cons and Pro Controllers.
So how did he do it? Well, first it's important to mention this is only going to work on a hacked Switch. The console needs to be majorly reconfigured with a homebrew guide and parts to use the custom Nintendo Nvidia Tegra X1 processor as an Android device rather than a Nintendo one. It's complex and shouldn't be done without really considering if you want to potentially break your Switch forever, as Nintendrew as his own second Switch specifically for projects like this.
Once the Switch is running more like an Android device, it's pretty simple, but you might be surprised to know that it's no longer really just the Switch running the game, because Nintendrew gets Stadia to work on the console too. What a twist, eh? The YouTuber is using another platform we wouldn't expect, so really if you think about it, this is all about making your Switch into a Stadia all along.
